About Us

Treasure Chest Books is an independent wholesale book distributor located in Tucson, Arizona. We also operate as Canyonlands Publications, Rio Nuevo Publishers, and Rio Chico Books for Children, and have been serving readers and promoting literacy since the 1970s.    

At TCB, we dedicate ourselves to building relationships and serving our customers with top-notch service and one-stop shopping. We also cherish our community of publishers who create the beautiful books we all enjoy, as well as the readers who make it all possible.

We carry nonfiction and fiction titles in more than thirty-five categories relating to Western and Southwestern art, culture, nature, people, and history. We have more than 3,000 titles from hundreds of publishers, and we’ll stuff books into every nook and cranny we can find.

How does the ordering and shipping process work?

We fulfill orders in the order that we receive them, whether they come in via web, phone, email, fax, carrier pigeon, or handcuffed attaché case. Orders typically ship out within a day or two, but we can get backed up from time to time. We typically ship via UPS.

Holiday shipping is a whole other animal. You can expect delays during the holidays.

If you need a specific book by a certain date, letting us know two or three weeks in advance will improve the chances that we’ll have the books in stock when you order.

What is your return policy?

30 DAY EXPRESS – Full credit on returns within 30 days of invoice date for any reason. Returns must be in resalable condition as determined solely by Treasure Chest Books and must be accompanied by an invoice number.

 RESTOCKING PROGRAM – Returns will be accepted for credit after 30 days of invoice and through 90 days from invoice date at 45% discount. Returns must be in resalable condition as determined solely by Treasure Chest Books and must be accompanied by an invoice number. Returns received without an invoice number will be credited at 50% discount. Out of print, old editions, and damaged books will not be accepted. Separate return schedules apply for dated material.

CLAIMS – All claims must be reported to us within 15 days of the invoice date.

Damaged or otherwise unsellable books returned to us are donated to a variety of local literacy groups.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept credit cards, checks, and ACH transfers.

How do credits work?

Depending on the timing, we can either issue a credit memo to be used on your next order, or adjust your invoice. If merchandise is damaged or missing, please do not short pay us until you get the designated credit for it.

Credits expire after one year.

How can I get a customer account?

Welcome! We hope that we can help make your business a success. Just click on the Register button at the top of the home page or fill in the questionnaire at the bottom of the home page. We will contact you to let you know what we need to get you set up.

New customers must pre-pay with a credit card until we set up terms after a few orders.

Can I make special orders?

All of our orders are special! But seriously, if there is a title that you want that we don’t normally carry, let us know. There is a chance we can get it for you. The more copies you order, the more likely we can get it. If you’re ordering one copy from a publisher that we don’t work with who has a one-hundred book minimum, you might be out of luck.
